Luxuriously embroidered dress by the legendary British designer, Caroline Charles. Charles is the only British Boutique designer I can think of, who has managed to retain her label in the same form through until the present day. Never famous enough to be tempted to sell-out, but sophisticated and elegant enough to retain a faithful clientele. I'm estimating this dress to be from the late Seventies, showing luxurious, bohemian influences similar to the likes of Bill Gibb and Thea Porter, but with an eye to the coming silhouettes of the Eighties. The fabric and the embroidery are the real stars of the show, although the cut is pretty special as well, with the corded metallic fabric shimmering under the gold, silver and burgundy embroidery and occasional rhinestones.
