Outrageous and iconic, American designer Rudi Gernreich designed the 'no bra' bra for manufacture by Exquisite Form in 1964. It was made no larger than a 34B and only produced in three muted shades 'nude', black and white. It was innovative on many levels, not least that it was the first bra which celebrated the smaller-busted women of the world and freed them from years of underwiring, padding and general pretence of a bust. It was also the first bra designed to accommodate the new style of clothing (looser, straighter...) which came from designers such as Gernreich in the US, and the likes of John Bates and Mary Quant in England. This is a rare example of the bra and its matching g-string with sweet white lace trim, still perfectly wearable and (as with all intimate items for sale at Vintage-a-Peel) gently - but thoroughly - laundered.
32A (g-string is a size small) - both are shown unpinned on my mannequin Fabric Fine nylon mesh Flaws
Some picks to the mesh on the bra - shown below. Sold as vintage.
