Although not as well known for her Seventies work as she ought to be (she is now a confirmed wedding dress designer), the pieces I've seen have always been the most incredible examples of British 'couture' quality of this period. Certainly you could comfortably place her alongside the likes of Bill Gibb, Thea Porter and Gina Fratini for style and quality. She shared a love of theatricality and antique fabrics with them, of which this skirt is a prime example. The label states that it has been crafted from jacquard fabrics made between 1901 and 1935, patchworked across a voluminous floor length skirt and lined in taffeta. It really is more like a work of art than an item of clothing, and would happily grace any complete British boutique or couture collection. The ultimate in bourgeois bohemian style... Waist 28" - Length 41" Fabric Various antique fabrics patchworked together on a taffeta base Flaws I think any flaws are 'original' flaws in the fabrics used by Buckley. The skirt as it is, is in lovely condition. It was a little musty and has been handwashed which has improved it somewhat. I would not recommend dry cleaning. There is a bit of damage near the zip, but I'm not sure if this is zip or fabric-age-related. Sold as vintage.
